Defense War News Updates: DTN News - SPECIAL REPORT: A Nightmare For An iPad Traveller By Rogers

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - February 14, 2013: We have heard mostly seniors are targeted by scammers, but I never realised as soon I turned 65 years old that Rogers, a reputable Canadian company behaves in an abnormal fashion to extract funds from seniors in any formation related to the services provided by the company  and to back up their ludicrous billing and statement would cook up a despicable cock and bull story.

I had Rogers Flex Rate Plan as 3G for my iPad2 paying $25 monthly since the conception of the Apple darling toll iPad2 early March, 2011. Rogers Flex Rate Plan covers from Coast-to-Coast in Canada only.

Prior March 2011 and to-date, I had with my family several trips abroad visiting dear, near and friends in the East & West. It is understandable Rogers Flex Rate Plan for iPad2 is and was not compatible in Asian and European countries, the regional WiFi  is required for exerting iPad2 respectively.

Beginning of the episode - my nightmare and Rogers harassment;  Mid January, 2013., I received a call from Rogers and an entity identify himself as Jamal claims outstanding of $1182.34 on G3 account relating to my iPad2, which was a shocker.  Rogers - Canada claims my iPad2 ~ 3G occur roaming charges.  This hideous episode is related to my last trip to Singapore, as I had a knee replacement surgery at Glen Eagle Hospital on November 8, 2012. Rogers claims my iPad2 ~ 3G occur enormous roaming charges.

Second day of the episode - my nightmare enlarged and added Rogers harassment; The very next day another guy Vaden called from Rogers relating the outstanding account explaining, which turn out to be an astonishment atrocious act, deflecting a heavy jolt to my understanding and claiming that in fact the actual amount I owe was $11,285.40, but Rogers was kind enough to allow a DISCOUNT of $10,000 bringing to current amount of $1182.34 and if I settle account immediately, Vaden claims that he has the authority to allow a further discount of $50.00 on the outstanding of $1182.34 and mentioned that my iPad2 usage of the internet between November 7 to 12, 2012 (period of 6 days) for downloading was 31849 MB, whereas the iPad2 was switched off for safe keeping with my wife while I was in post surgery for a week till I was able to function my laptop / iPad2. Vaden gave a reference number to the conversation, which is I575363632 (the first letter is I for Ice cream).

Besides, there were several entities namely Serena and others from Rogers calling in conjunction with the outstanding account. I would like to repeat and reemphasize that Glen Eagle Hospital Singapore issued me an User ID and Password to activate my iPad2, without their consent it was not possible to operate the internet. Our trip commenced on November 6, 2012 to Singapore and returned home to Toronto on December 17, 2012.

It seems utility companies like Rogers has enormous authority and power to charge consumer at will unquestionably. It is time for the authorities to protect seniors from such fraudulent scams. Technology should be used as a boon and not as a curse.

I browsed through the internet and noticed umpteen articles on this aspect in pattern and self-explanatory.

DTN News - WORLD OF TODAY: Major Winter Storm Blasts Toronto - February 8, 2013

Defense War News Updates: DTN News - WORLD OF TODAY: Major Winter Storm Blasts Toronto - February 8, 2013
Source: DTN News
(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - February 8, 2013: DTN News reports a blast of winter weather slowed morning commuting throughout the Greater Toronto Area Friday morning and conditions are going to be worse for the journey home.

OPP are urging motorists to stay off the roads as a mammoth winter storm continues to batter the region. About 19 centimetres of snow has fallen at Pearson International Airport since Thursday night with another 2 to 5 centimetres still in the forecast.

Heavy snow continues as a major winter storm currently centred over New York State affects the regions today. General total snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 centimetres are expected with snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour possible under the heaviest bands. Strong and gusty northeasterly winds are blowing the freshly fallen snow and resulting in very low visibility at times.

The snow has already begun to taper off over Southwestern Ontario and is expected to ease off over South Central Ontario this evening and Eastern Ontario near midnight.

Hazardous winter travelling conditions from near zero visibility, areas of heavy snow and local blowing snow are expected. Rapidly accumulating snow will also contribute to dangerous driving conditions. Travel plans should be changed accordingly.

The storm centre will move away tonight and merge with another winter storm forecast to affect parts of New England and the Maritimes.

Please refer to your local public forecast for further details.

(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - February 7, 2013: In her immaculate ceremonial uniform this proud soldier was marking the 61st anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne.

But as the first of 41 shots were fired from six field guns in London’s Green Park her horse began to get skittish.

As more shots were fired at ten second intervals the horse from the King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, got increasingly agitated.

Eventually it unceremoniously threw its mount from her saddle and reared on to its hind legs. The unfortunate soldier could easily have been crushed to death but seconds later she had wiped away her tears and was back in her saddle.

One bystander said: ‘At first the soldier tried to control the horse and calm it down but then the guns fired again and she was thrown to the ground.
‘It was pretty terrifying because the horse stood up on its hind legs and looked like it could have landed on top of her.

‘By the time the horse landed she was up on her feet and out of the way. She was in tears but I think it was her pride that was hurt rather than anything else.
‘Despite being in tears there was no time for sympathy and she was told to get straight back onto her horse.

‘The soldier was shaken but carried out the rest of her duties perfectly.’
Hundreds gathered in Green Park yesterday to see 71 horses pull the 13-pounder, First World War ear field guns from the nearby Wellington Barracks.

There were gasps as the trooper was thrown from her horse but the Royal Salute was not interrupted.

Gun salutes are customarily fired, both on shore and at sea, as a sign of respect or welcome
A 62-gun salute also rang out at Gun Wharf, Tower of London yesterday by the Honourable Artillery Company, while gunners from the 105th Regiment Royal Artillery (Volunteers) fired a 21-gun salute at Edinburgh Castle.

The Queen spent the day in private at Sandringham, as is her custom. It is a sombre day for Her Majesty, as it marks the moment her father King George VI died, leaving her to take the throne the aged just 25.

This year will see the Queen will mark the 60th anniversary of her coronation and a service of celebration will be held on June 4, at Westminster Abbey.

The coronation will also be marked by a four-day festival in Buckingham Palace Gardens in July.

The Queen will return to Buckingham Palace next week following her annual break in Norfolk.

DTN News - ARMS EXPORTS: Russian Weapons Sales Shift Away From East – Arms Official

Defense War News Updates: DTN News - ARMS EXPORTS: Russian Weapons Sales Shift Away From East – Arms Official
Source: DTN News - - This article compiled by Roger Smith from reliable sources Ria Novosti
(NSI News Source Info) TORONTO, Canada - February 7, 2013: Russia is losing arms markets in Asia and the Middle East, two of its traditional strongholds, but gaining new ones in Latin America and Africa, a Russian arms official said this week ahead of an aviation expo in India, a major buyer of Russian weaponry that has recently been opting for Western hardware.

Russia sold a record $15.16 billion worth of weaponry in 2012 while expanding its foreign client list, the Federal Military-Technical Cooperation Service (FSMTC) reported on Monday.

“The volume of arms exports has reached $15.16 billion, according to preliminary calculations…which means that our plans have been fulfilled by 111.8 percent,” FSMTC chief Alexander Fomin told a government meeting on state defense contracts.

Russia reported arms sales of $13.2 billion in 2011, enough to maintain its position as the world’s second arms exporter after the United States.

"In the past ten years, we have seen a general increase in exports, which have tripled since 2003,” Fomin said.

“The portfolio of orders for defense-related products has also tripled. Its current value exceeds $46 billion,” he added.

India is the leading purchaser of Russian arms, with Myanmar,Vietnam, Venezuela and Middle East countries also among the Russian defense industry's main clients.

Fomin said Russia's expanded list of its clients in 2012 included Afghanistan, Ghana, Oman, and Tanzania.
The FSMTC also claimed the quality of exported Russian military products has improved, though problems still remain, especially with poor after-sales services.

“We have been issuing fewer licenses to replace or repair exported products, which is an encouraging trend,” Fomin said.

The controversy over the quality of Russia’s defense-related products has been widely-publicized.
Algeria refused delivery of a batch of MiG-29 fighters in 2007 claiming their “inferior quality.”

Russia’s traditionally strong position on the Indian arms market has been recently undermined by failures to fulfil or properly execute several contracts, including the long-delayed delivery of the overhauled aircraft carrier Vikramaditya to the Indian Navy.

Last year, India asked Russia to replace faulty parts on the leased Nerpa nuclear-powered submarine which had affected its operational readiness.

Fomin said his service was drafting new legislation that would allow Russian arms manufacturers to open their own service centers abroad and to import defense-related products to satisfy their own needs.
